My Little Artist

We do a lot of arts-and-crafts around our house.  We are always cutting, gluing, tracing or coloring something!  I have really enjoyed watching how Emily's artistic talent has evolved!  You know, it goes from barely being able to color in the lines when your little, to drawing "Mom and Dad".  I don't have an artistic bone in my body, so I'm so glad Emily got this from Chris' side of the family, mainly Chris' mother.  She is a wonderful artist and painter.  Now, I need my mother to teach Emily is be a fantastic seamstress, so maybe she can teach me!  Ha Ha.

Emily drew a picture of her family last week at school.  This picture has probably been hanging on the fridge for about 5 days, but she just realized that there was something that needs to be added.  It cracked me up because she stood at the fridge for about 5 minutes deciding what she was going to add.  Plus she has her crayons right by her side.  Oh how I love her so!!

Emily is not just a master of fridge art.  Her expertise ranges all the way out to the swing set as well.  I hope these little people stay forever, but just in case, I snapped a picture.

To my future artist, dancer, doctor, lawyer, teacher, nurse, or even stay-at-home-mom.  I know you will be fantastic at what ever you do!!!!

"For I know the plans that I have for you", declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future".

Emily's Fall Fest

Emily had her very first Fall Festival at school yesterday.  To say that it was HOT was a mild understatement!  It just didn't feel like October!  But a fun time was had by all.  We walked around with our friends Crystal and McKenzie.  We also had a boy in the group.  My friend from church, Tiffany, had to work, so her son Connor walked with us.  He didn't really want his picture taken, so that's why you don't see him.  It was a lot of fun!  They have a Spring Fling in the spring that is much the same, so we can't wait to do it again.
Em and McKenzie

I thought Gracie would just walk around like the big kids, but before long I had to get the stroller.

They had pizza and snacks for sell to raise money for the school.  Thank goodness they had the lunch room open because it was a cool place to go eat.

Emily's teacher, Mrs. Martinez.  We are so blessed to have her as Emily's teacher.  I sure hope she can be Gracie's.

Mrs. Holmes is another kindergarten teacher, and all the kids love her!  I see Emily hug her or hold her hand every time she is around.  I'm so thankful that in this day and time, there are still teachers that know the importance that "love" has in learning.

After lunch we headed out to play some games.

Gracie even got in on the action.  She cracks me up how she thinks she's just as big as anyone else.

I can't wait for Spring Fling!

Gracie's First Haircut

Gracie arrived on this earth with a head full of hair and she is now 2, so she was just about due a haircut.  She has the sweetest little curls in back which has kept me from cutting it before now, but it had just gotten so long, and I knew the time was now for a cut.  I had thought I might trim the ends myself, but every time I tried my hands started shaking, so I decided to go to a pro.  Toni had been my hairdresser for years, now she is Emily's and Gracie's.

Emily went first so she could show Gracie how it's done.

At first Gracie wasn't so sure, but we bribed her with candy and all was well.

You may not can even tell Gracie got her haircut, but it looks just like I wanted it to.  She still has her curls and it's still long.  Just now the little mullet piece is gone.  HaHa.

She's getting big way too fast!

Happy Birthday To Me!!!!

My birthday was at the end of September, and as you get older birthday celebrations change.  You care much less about having a huge celebration to mark adding another year to your age (or at least that's how I feel), so we kept it low key this year.
Chris and the girls took me out to eat at Chili's.  To say the least it wasn't relaxing, but we had a great time laughing and eating.  As you can see it's hard getting a picture with everyone looking the same direction

But Chris finally got one.

When the weekend came, my mother had a party for me at her house.  Very low key, as you can see the fact that I'm wearing my lounging clothes! It was a lot of fun.

I got lots of card and calls on my birthday and my sweet neighbor brought me a plant and a card.  It was sitting on the porch when I came home from taking Emily to school.  And I have still been celebrating this week because Maggie and I went to eat to celebrate both of our birthdays.
Having such good friends and family made turning another year older much, much easier!

So Glad To Be Back!!!!!

Oh y'all....I'm so glad to be back!!!  I haven't been able to upload anything to blogger for over three weeks!  I don't know if any of you have had this problem, but my sister-in-law Maggie and I have and its been very frustrating!!!  But we are back and very happy to be here!!!!
I'll have to start back a couple of Fridays ago.  Maggie had few errands to run and we had the privilege to have Sophie Clare over for the day.  Now that we go to different churches, I miss a lot of my "Sophie Clare Time", so when Maggie said she had some things she needed to do, I jumped on the chance to have Sophie Clare come over.

As you can see, Gracie was excited she was here.

We played a lot!  And I think I may have kissed her once or twice due to the lipstick on her face.

We walked over to the neighbor's house so I could show her off.  My other neighbor has a decoy deer in his yard for bow practice.  SC couldn't take her eyes off of that deer!  I do believe she told it "Hey" about 10 times. She is so cute!

Of course, we had lunch.

And I have to say that one of my favorite parts was putting her down for a nap.  She still likes to be rocked to sleep and I haven't done that in forever!  She was so peaceful and sweet I just wanted to hold her.....and I did for a while.  But she started getting hot, so I laid her down in Emily's bed.  Oh how I wished I would have had the pretty sheets on Em's bed!

I was worried SC would wake up in a different place and not be happy.  But no worries!!!  She woke up with the sweetest smile on her face.  Which was good because I had to scoop up both girls and run and get Em from school.
SC usually doesn't take a pacifier but she was enjoying Gracie's while we waited in the car line.

Gracie looked like she could have slept a few more minutes!

Everyone was glad when Em got home!

We had a snack.

And played some more.  I told the girls that the little baby was going to take a nap, and SC got the passy and blankets and laid down.  It was so funny.

Emily playing teacher.

Isn't that the sweetest face?!  I'm so glad we got to spend some time with Sophie Clare.  We love her very much.

Happy Birthday Claire!

Saturday the girls were invited to their friend Claire's 5th birthday.  Ashley had it at a place that is usually used for gymnastics and cheerleader things and I have to say the kids LOVED IT!! They just ran and played and jumped to their hearts content!

Okay, this pit of foam was fun to jump in, but a NIGHTMARE  to get out of!!! Emily and I jumped in and of course she jumped right out! I've never felt so helpless in my whole life!  At one point I thought about just staying in there!  I think I would have been able to get out easier if I would have had jeans on.  Next time, I'm going to wear more comfortable clothes.

The next day at church, Ashley said the cake was falling apart because it was so hot.  But none the less, it was good!

Not real sure what Gracie is saying to Taylor, but I'm sure it has something to do with her being an Auburn fan.  haha

Em and Henley about to take the plunge into the foam.

Emily and the "Birthday Girl" Claire

A fun time was had by all!  One of the Mom's suggested that we have a girl's night at this place!  I loved that idea and can't wait!  It ought to be interesting!

Our weekend and a Dr. visit

This blog post is dedicated to my friend Stephanie, who reprimanded me for not blogging enough.  I should have named my blog "Angie's Not So Daily News".  But in my defense we've come off a very busy weekend.  I have a one track mind and  blogging was pushed to the back.  Plus my pictures are kind of all over the place, but anyway....here we go.

We had a yard sale Saturday with my neighbors across the street.  So most of Friday night and Saturday was devoted to that. Thank you Mom, Cheryl and Earl for helping with the girls Friday and Saturday.  Plus the fact that Chris put sod down in the front yard made the weekend a little more tiring.  For the record, I laid sod for a total of 2 hours (1 hour on Friday and 1 hour on Saturday- thank you Lord the girls had a birthday party to go to) and let me tell you, hard labor isn't the life for me! But I must thank my neighbor Eddie, Chris' dad Earl, and all the neighbors from down the street that came to help.  It would have taken FOREVER without you and we just can't thank you enough.  Now if only it would rain!!!!  But it looks so good!

Gracie found her a yard sale treasure (and her sister's shoes).

And to be honest, I was going to sell some of the girl's toys in the YS, but when I started dragging them out, they wanted to play with them. So we kept a few.

And today was Gracie 2 Year check up.  I was kind of nervous of how she would act due to the fact that the last time she saw a Dr. was in the ER, but no need to worry.  She was great!

She weights 30.2 lbs and is 33 inches tall.  And just PERFECT from head to toe!

The bad part was that she had to get a shot.  BOO!  But she got over it real fast, but has just wanted to lay around since we got home.  I'm sure she'll be back to her old self tomorrow.

Hope everyone has a great day!
