Wordful Wednesday-Southern Cooking

My husband, Chris, planted us a garden in the backyard this year. We have most of the Southern staples : okra, tomatoes, squash, cucumbers, and peppers. And we like our vegetables fried in the South. When you think about it, couldn't the words "fried vegetable" be an oxymoron!!

Anyway, we love our fried vegetables!!! The other night I cooked fried chicken, fried green tomatoes, fried squash, cornbread, pinto beans and I finished it up with some cold sweet tea!!! (Paula Deen eat-your-heart-out!) Emily, my oldest daughter and my picky eater, was not overly impressed but ate it anyway. Now Gracie, my little girl with a BIG appetite, loved it!! She has really started taking advantage of all the new teeth that she has gotten over the past few months. Can't you tell by the look on her face....she's in hog heaven!!!

Thank you for stopping by my place. I hope you all have a wonderful day!!!
