A Birthday Get Together and A Do Nothing Day

Thursday night we went to my in-laws house to celebrate my mother-in-law's birthday. Her birthday was actually Monday, but she was a little under the weather, so we celebrated last night. She called me earlier in the day to see if one or both of the girls could come over for a visit. I quickly said both because my house was in serious need of cleaning...the floors being the absolute worst! So they went to visit, I finished cleaning and then ran by and grabbed dinner for everyone. After we ate, the girls were ready to head outside.
Maggie, Cheryl, and Chris

Chris and Sally. She's been on the scene longer than I have!

My niece Sophie Clare is just a little monkey!!! I think she would climb a ladder if given half a chance!

Emily wasn't in the best of moods. Or at least she wasn't by the time I got there. This is the only picture I have of her smiling.

Please excuse Gracie's face! It's good and dirty!

Chris looks fired up! He's always playing and wrestling with the girls and sometime they don't know when to quit!

Today we were suppose to meet my SIL Tessa and my niece Robin at the sprinklers downtown. But Robin woke up with a stomach virus, so we had to cancel our plans for now. So the girls headed outside and I hooked up our sad little sprinkler. It's much better than last year's sprinkler but no where near as good as the one downtown. All they wanted to do is drink the water!

If our neighbor ever sees us outside he brings the girls Popsicles. So as you can imagine the girls love Eddie!

After all the sprinkler fun we could handle, we made an impromptu run to Walmart. The girls were in their PJ's! I know, I'm a terrible mother, but I just couldn't see myself going to all the trouble for literally a 5 minute trip. When we got home, I put Gracie to bed and Emily and I made a cake. She said the funniest things today. She said that when she turns 16 that she will babysit Gracie so that Chris and I could go on a date. I can't even imagine that right now! She asked me what else she could do at 16, and I told her about driving. She then said that she would drive Gracie to school for me. (just put me in the loony bin now!!)

Okay, our arts and crafts time was a little sad looking, but Emily loved it! She was hammering thumb tacks into a Capri Sun box.

By 6:30 tonight I was all out of ideas, so the girls got in a bubble bath. Gracie loved it!

For it to be a "do nothing day" we sure were busy. I hope all of you have a safe and happy Memorial Day!

A Few Things I've Missed

Life had been very, very busy around here and before you know it, you're behind on blogging!!! Every night I have the intention on blogging about the day, but by the time we get the kids in bed, the last thing I want to do is get on the computer. So, my friends, I'm going to play catch up!
My cousin Jenny and I went to the movies last week to see "Letters to Juliet". It was wonderful! When I leave a movie, I like for everything to be wrapped up and to feel happy. To me, movies are an escape. This movie fulfilled all of my criteria! The best way to describe this movie is it's like "The Notebook", but less sad and stressful! But the best part of the night was that I got to spend it with Jenny! No kids....just us! We went to eat at Logan's before the movie. As usual we had good conversation, and I can't wait to do it again soon.
Between all the graduations, all we have been doing is playing. A lot!!!! We signed Emily up for ballet at the Dance Conservatory in our home town, and I'm just beside myself ready for it to start in the fall!!! So in the mean time, we've been talking about ballet and I've shown Emily what little I can remember of it. For the record, Emily is not doing ballet here....just a little freestyle.

And whatever Emily does, Gracie has to do also. I call her "Repeat".

Sisters make the best friends!

We've done a little karaoke!

Emily had her last day of school.

Emily giving her teacher, Mrs. Jennifer, one final hug!

You might be a redneck if.......you let your kids swim in their clothes in a WalMart swimming pool. Who cares....they loved it!!!

Okay, you might have to be here to really appreciate this picture. I have an awful time getting a good picture of Emily. She won't ever look at the camera and if I count to three, she always looks the other direction by three!!! So during this picture, I was trying to instruct her on how to look at the camera and smile, but she didn't care!!! Gracie was doing all the posing! They are just too funny!!

Thanks for bearing with me through my hodgepodge of stuff!!! Have a great Thursday y'all!!!

Robin's Graduation

I mean it y'all, there are graduations all over the place! Emily graduated preschool last week and my niece Robin graduated kindergarten this week. I'm tellin' you, time is just flying on by!!! It seems like just yesterday Robin started kindergarten!

I have never been to a graduation that was so hot and crowded. Robin goes to the elementary school that I went to, and let me tell you, there are two things that my hometowners will go to.....that is any high school sporting event and a graduation. Age doesn't matter!!!! It was so nice to see so many familiar faces! Whether it be people I went to school with or teachers I had, it was just nice to see everyone!

Gracie wasn't all that excited about the seating situation! We were all stacked on top of one another. I want to say thanks again to the lady that sat in front of us. Gracie kicked her the whole time (and I apologized the whole time) and she never complained. It takes a special lady to be that gracious. But other than the heat and the crowd, I had a wonderful time. Robin is so beautiful and smart. To me this is just her time to shine!

Robin saying the pledge.

Getting ready to get her diploma.

I went to school with Robins teacher. She is so sweet and I'm glad they had a good year together.

My brother Jeff, Robin, and Tessa

Me and the girls. I look like I'm holding on to Emily for dear life!

Gran and the girls

Robin took Emily and showed her around a bit. When I saw this picture, I wished so bad that they could go to school together.
Gran and G-Daddy and their girls.

After the ceremony, we had dinner at Jacks (one of only four restaurants in the immediate area). We had a good time, but to be honest, I'm glad we don't have anymore of these things to go to until next year! Although these things are fun, they are only a reminder of how fast life goes by! I love you Robin! We are very proud of you!!!

I Totally Missed It!

How do you like my new digs? I love it! Leslie at Designed by Leslie was kind enough to take the time to give me a new look! It's fitting that it came just in time for my one year blogiversary (which I forgot was Monday)! I hope you have enjoyed reading about my life as much as I have enjoyed showing it to you. I can't believe it's already been a year!
My brother-in-law gives me a hard time because of my blog title being "daily news" and sometimes it's not so daily, but I do the best I can. I have met some really sweet people and one day I'm going to introduce all of my favorite reads to you. The people I've met have some of the most beautiful children and grandchildren you have ever seen, and I have enjoyed reading about every second of their lives.
I have a few things to tell you about, so stay tuned!

My Little Graduate

My little sweetie graduated preschool this past Wednesday. I'm telling you, it was rough! I walked around all morning with a lump in my throat, trying not to bust out crying! I had to talk to myself and explain that this is just preschool. No biggie! That's what my head told me, but my heart keep reminding me that this is just the beginning! Next middle school, then high school, then college. Then she'll get married and leave me for sure!!! Okay, I know that's a little dramatic, but I love this little girl with my whole heart and I just can't believe she is ready to start school in the fall!

God has a wonderful plan for Emily and I can't wait to see what He has in store!!!

We started getting ready the night before graduation. Emily loved wearing her cap and gown.

I did pretty good all morning, until I saw Mrs. Carol (preschool director) and when she started crying, so did I.

As usual, Emily sang her heart out.

Gracie giving Em a big congrats!

Em and Mackenzie

I told Mrs. Jennifer (Emily's teacher) that I wish she could go to kindergarten with Emily. Emily can be set in her ways, but Mrs. Jennifer always knew how to handle her. I saw her give Emily countless hugs and I'm telling you, it does a mother's heart good to know that your child's teacher is giving them love when you can't.

After the program, the school had a party at the bouncy place down the road. All the kids just went wild!!!

Now for a fun summer at home. Emily may get tired of me by the end of the summer because I'm going to be up in her face as much as possible telling her that she is the most wonderful girl in the whole world.

A Family Affair

Hey y'all! I hope everyone had a great weekend! Ours was very busy. Saturday, my family and I headed to Red Top Mountain State Park in Georgia for a big cookout that my cousin Tommy Jr. was having. Tommy Jr. and his friends made this big ole grill and they cook up a storm. All we have to do is show up! Now that's my kind of party! It kind of turned into a impromptu family reunion for us because there was a lot of family there that we don't usually get to see. We had a great time and ate very well!!!! Can't wait until next year!
My Uncle Tom is the one in the Alabama hat. They played some good down home country and bluegrass music. It was great! Gracie and my niece Robin just danced and danced.

Gracie taking a rest from the dancing.

Robin, Emily, and my brother Jeff.

My Uncle Bill bouncing Grace. By the look on his face, he didn't realize how heavy she was!

Momma, Tommy Jr. and Daddy.

My sister-in-law Tessa always packs a bag of tricks. Gracie and Emily enjoying the loot she brought.

My Aunt Jane and cousin Rick.

Me and my sister-in-law Tessa. As you can see, Tessa got up and got ready and I just rolled out of the bed. Doesn't she look beautiful in blue?

Gracie getting ready for batting practice.

Daddy and his brothers.

My mom, Aunt Jane, and Aunt Jan.

It was getting toward the end of the day and the girls were running out of steam.

The whole Hee Haw Gang! There was a ton more people there but this was just our family.

A fun time was had by all! Like I said, it was good to see everyone and I can't wait until next year.
